Sometimes a duck is only a duck.
writing by Anitra L. Freeman
Sometimes a duck is fully, completely, utterly and marvelously a duck. Sometimes a duck is merely a duck. Sometimes a duck is awfully like a duck.
Sometimes a duck is a duckling. Sometimes a duck is an eggling.
Sometimes a duck is a bird that you feed. Sometimes a duck is dinner.
A duck is not a bus. A bus is not a duck. But a duck is the same as a duck and a bus is the same as a bus. This illustrates a principle of logic that I have forgotten the name of, but it was not a duck. And a small blue and purple rock on the upper slopes of the north face of the East Himalayans is not a duck. The number of things in the universe that are not a duck is so enormous that it will give you an emotional comprehension of the vastness of spacetime just to contemplate it for a moment.
But a duck is a duck.
A duck is also a bird. A duck is a vertebrate. A duck is a lifeform. A duck is an aquatic avian. A duck is a feathered biped. A duck may be a nuisance. A duck is occasionally a target.
And sometimes a duck is only a duck. <phbbbt!>
